Our Heritage
Charity Farm Caravan Park has stood as a beacon of relaxation and enjoyment for holidaymakers since its inception in 1927. Founded by Great Grandad Arthur Lount, a visionary with a deep love for the Yorkshire countryside, the park was initially a modest endeavour with a few simple pitches. His vision was to create a peaceful retreat where families could escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature.

As the park's reputation grew, so did its facilities and the breadth of its appeal. Under the stewardship of Grandad Harold Lount, the park saw its first major expansion in the 1950s, adding more pitches and introducing static caravans, which were a novelty at the time. Harold’s efforts were focused on enhancing guest comfort while maintaining the park's rustic charm, laying the groundwork for a legacy of hospitality that would define Charity Farm for decades.

In 1985, the park was handed over to Keith Lount, who introduced modern amenities that today’s holidaymakers expect. Under his guidance, Charity Farm saw the addition of comprehensive utilities, upgraded landscaping and the introduction of facilities such as a launderette and a children’s play area. These improvements were made with an unwavering commitment to eco-friendly practices, ensuring that the park's expansion did not detract from the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

Today, the park is under the loving management of Steven and Shelly Lount, who have taken the legacy forward into the 21st century. They have continued to innovate while preserving the park’s historical essence. Recent additions under their management include Wi-Fi access across the park, a state-of-the-art security system and the renovation of communal spaces to enhance guest interactions and community building.

Under Steven and Shelly's leadership, Charity Farm has not only retained its classic charm but has also embraced the needs of modern holidaymakers, ensuring that the park remains a preferred destination for both new visitors and long-time guests. They are deeply committed to the family’s legacy of providing a welcoming and serene environment, ensuring that every guest feels at home.

Each generation of the Lount family has left a distinct mark on the park, carefully balancing tradition with innovation. This thoughtful stewardship has allowed Charity Farm to grow and thrive while staying true to its roots, making it a beloved destination where many generations of families have made lasting memories.
